BEHIND THE damn

mushiya

Founder | Creative Director | Stylist

You know her when you see her. She walks in a room and you want to watch her. You know her when you hear her. She opens her mouth and you want to listen. You know her when you feel her. For everything she touches has her mark. The mark of class. The mark of attitude, finesse, confidence and poise. And then you become a believer... a Damn believer. She is Mushiya, Founder and creative director of The Damn Salon. The Damn Salon began in a kitchen, with a chair, a comb and a girl with a goal: City Twists.Today, the signature style marks a turning point in the history of the “natural hair movement”. From this kitchen, and with the continued support of her husband, Mushiya gave birth to two Damn Salon locations, Atlanta and Charlotte, a line of Natural Hair Care Products, an online boutique, and ‘A Taste of Damn’ her Touring Division which travels the country providing signature styles to clients waitlisted for months for their opportunity to be Damned. Raised in Congo, Mushiya, learned do hair from her mother. This skill along with her entrepreneurial spirit.... READ MORE

President | Operations & Entertainment

LOU took Atlanta by Storm when he and Mushiya created the Damn Firm, where they combined music, fashion and hair, to create a captivating Damn movement. They have a dedicated international following who now await in anticipation, as Lou, creative director of Damn musique, completes the first Damn compilation. He is that eye. He is that ear - one that is able to see, hear, then identify, develop and orchestrate that missing element that will ignite any stage, hypnotize any audience, and leave everyone lusting for more. Lou. He has that damn factor.

I'm one of those people whose hair affects their entire day. The saying "bad hair day", represents a bad day period. I sit at my desk and stare at my reflection in the mirror that's perfectly positioned on my desk so I see myself all day long. When my hair is on point, I smile at how cute I look and confidently go about my day. Catch me on a bad hair day and I am absolutely unproductive. I mean it - I just sit there and daydream of the perfect do. Long, short, curly, straight, dreadlocks, braids or twists...the list goes on. On a good hair day, this ritual does not last long because I'm completely content. However, on a bad hair day, this ritual goes on until I make the call to my lover, the Damn Salon. Once I confirm my appointment, it's like foreplay. The excitement begins as I anticipate climaxing at the reflection of my new do. My name is Kanko and I'm a fashion stylist who believes that looking your best brings success in every aspect of your life. If you look good, you feel good, and once you feel good then ah, ah, ah, ahhhhhh...sky's the limit!!
